Bernau has set up a unique woodcarving museum in the original single-roofed farmhouse from 1789, a reference to the woodworking trades of the past. The village in the south-facing high valley is still known today for its carving, woodwork and Black Forest furniture.

Pure adrenaline high above the waterfall! The 450-meter-long suspension bridge over the Todtnau waterfalls in the Upper Black Forest. In the mountain world of Todtnau, the perspectives widen as the waterfall can be experienced in a new way on the Blackforestline.

The Black Forest Open-Air Museum in Gutach is named after the 400-year-old Vogtsbauernhof farm. The seven fully furnished Black Forest farms and 15 outbuildings attract many visitors from April to October. There are many action days, demonstrations and cultural events.

The “German Clock Museum” invites you on a journey through contemporary history with more than 1000 objects from all over the world. Furtwangen is located on the German Clock Route, which runs for around 300 km through the former clock centers in the Upper Black Forest and the Central Black Forest.

A good 20 km northwest of Freiburg, the 556 m high former volcano towers directly on the Rhine. Almond trees and meadows are already in bloom here when skiers are still skiing on the Feldberg. Some of the wineries and winegrowers’ cooperatives produce legendary wines. Our tip: be sure to stop off!

The “Wutachtalbahn” owes its nickname to its winding course and the only German roundabout tunnel. The 61.7 km long connecting line from the Hochrheinbahn to the Schwarzwaldbahn was built in 1890 as a strategic railroad in the northwest of the border around Switzerland.

Over 300 wood-carved masks and more than 400 original miniature carnival figures as well as artistically painted hats take visitors to Bonndorf Castle deep into the secrets of the Swabian-Alemannic carnival. Bonndorf is located directly on the Wutach Gorge.

With its tributary gorges, the Wutach in the southern Black Forest forms an overwhelming primeval landscape with a good 1,200 plant species and over 500 butterfly species. It requires surefootedness and stamina. A hiking bus runs between the access points on summer weekends.

At the intersection of deeply incised valleys in the central Black Forest lies the town with “Germany’s highest waterfalls”. The Gutach plunges over several granite steps 163 m deep almost into the town center. They are illuminated in the evening until 10 pm. Triberg is a station on the legendary “Black Forest Railway.”

The 1,196 m high mountain lies at the northern foot of the Feldberg. The hiking parking lot can also be reached by car from Hinterzarten via Alpersbach. Various paths start here. A 15 km circular tour leads, for example, down to the Feldsee lake and back via the Feldberg summit and the village.

The 12 km long premium hiking trail connects the 50 m high Fahler waterfall between the Feldberg summit and Todtnauberg with the 98 m high Todtnau waterfall. Sports enthusiasts can turn it into an almost 22 km long circular route. There are numerous places to stop for refreshments along the way, and in Todtnauberg you can refresh yourself in summer in Germany’s highest outdoor pool.

The reservoir is the largest lake in the Black Forest and also the highest dam in Germany. It is a popular sailing, surfing and bathing center, and the 18 km long lake trail entices you to go on bike, e-bike, Segway and hiking tours with rustic refreshment stops.

If there is a tourist bustle anywhere in the Black Forest, it is on the Seestraße in Titisee. Here you will find Black Forest art alongside Black Forest kitsch. The lake is around 840 m high, 130 ha in size and up to 45 m deep and is an absolute must in the Black Forest. Its location beneath the Feldberg massif makes the Titisee one of the most beautiful lakes.

The most striking building in the village is the “Black Forest Cathedral”, the imposing domed church in the building complex of the former Benedictine monastery. It impresses with its perfect structural harmony. Inside, the rotunda shines in white marble. The golden domed cross is still a reminder of the time when St. Blasien was an imperial abbey and the abbot was also a prince.

The Augustinian canons’ monastery from the 12th century. was secularized in 1806. The baroque monastery church “Mariä Himmelfahrt” was allowed to remain a pilgrimage destination for economic reasons and is still one of the most important Marian pilgrimage sites in the Archdiocese of Freiburg today.

Germany’s sunniest city has retained much of its homeliness in the shadow of the Münster Tower. The “Black Forest capital” is an international university and ecological showcase city. There is a farmers’ market around the cathedral every morning except Sundays and public holidays.

The baroque splendor of the parish church of the 11th century Benedictine monastery, which was secularized in 1806. can be enjoyed by everyone. To visit the rococo library and the Zähringer Hall, you must join a guided tour. The facility is considered one of the most beautiful in the region.

At 1493 m, the highest peak in the German low mountain range is a popular excursion destination and a popular ski and snowboard center in winter with its 28 ski lifts and some alpine slopes. The former radio tower on the Seebuck now houses a ham museum.
